Making A Full Backup (Recommended)

** Shout Hosting recommends that you create full backups of your account on a weekly basis **

Step 1 To make a full backup of your site and databases in one swoop you first need to login to your cPanel screen and then click on the backups option

step1

Step 2 Now click on 'Download or Generate a full Web Site backup'

Step3 Select 'Home Directory'  enter the email address that you wish to use and click on 'Generate Backup'

Step 4 Check your inbox for your confirmation email and when you receive it you should either:

a) Return to the backups screen,  click on the Full backup option again and locate the download link which will look like as shown below. This will appear when the download is complete.

backup-10.20.2009_21-34-02_yourdomain.tar.gz

b) Visit the legacy file manager and proceed to your home directory where will find a copy of the same file as show above.  Click on the link and a new menu will appear in the far right of your screen,  scroll down to the 'download file' option and save it to your computer.

IMPORTANT NOTE

Once the backup is complete, you MUST save the backup file to your computer.  DO NOT leave it within your hosting account as should anything happen to the server, your backup will be lost.

Also remember to delete the backup file from your hosting account once you have saved it to your computer.
